I have worked in various capacities in the healthcare system over the last 18 years, from being a Continuing Care Aide to Registered Nurse to Manager of Nursing . I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009 and have worked in the areas of Pediatric Intensive Care, Acute Medicine, Palliative Care and Long Term Care.
Prior to entering into nursing I was always intrigued with how people have the innate capacity to heal themselves and that through lifestyle changes this can potentially occur. During my time in healthcare, what became apparent was how the degree of chronic disease was increasing at younger and younger ages. Something did not sit well with me in this picture and thus started on my own journey on how we can change this. I pursued many studies through the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine which is directed by Dr. Andrew Wiel. I was a part of the 2014 inaugural class in the Integrative Health and Lifestyle Program and also completed the Integrative Health Coaching Program. I have also taken Integrative Approaches to Mental Health, Prostrate Cancer and Environmental Health. I believe that we should be integrating allopathic medicine and other evidence based holistic practices into our healing journeys.
Through my passion in the area of Integrative Medicine and Complementary and Alternative health practices, my dream was to create a Center for Healing to occur. Through interventions of the greater being, my move back to North Battleford in October 2015 connected me with some amazing women who shared the same vision. In a matter of 2 years and many meetings the support of these women helped to pave the path to this amazing Wellness Center in North Battleford.
